Robert Gardner Jungian Analyst

Jung and Analysis

For Jung, discontent is a sign that we are being called upon to develop another way of looking at ourselves.

He saw the psyche as always striving to direct us to discover our essential nature. To this end, he found that the images in our dreams hold a wisdom that can guide us in our search for consciousness.

Jung’s view was that the core of our personality is fundamentally healthy. As a result he came to recognize that the task of analysis was to draw us closer to it, and to live in connection with this awareness.

The situation of each individual was seen to be unique, and he regarded analysis as “only a means for removing the stones from the path of development, and not a method.”
